Bailee and I had quite a weekend in Carson City playing with the Blue
Tahoe Schutzhund Club. We had outrageously hot and humid
temperatures and a very long day on the playing field. Bailee started her
tracking nicely at a local park and was terribly distracted by a homeless
person which ruined our day for tracking, but we went on.... Next (many
hours later - increasing the temperatures dramatically) came the
obedience portion. Bailee really put on a nice show for the team - she
lost points in the send out (she wasn't running to the end of that field for
anyone), Mom also screwed her up on the A-frame with a bad throw and
a German speaking judge trying to help but we totally
mis-communicated. This hurt her scores but she did a very nice job
considering the terrible conditions. She really shined in the bitework,
receiving a score of 85 and a rating of
"pronounced A". This made all
the suffering in the heat worth it. After her break we'll take her back for
more Schutzhund fun.
This is where all the hard work pays off, a million
dollar shot of bitework at its best.
Bailee completed her first leg of her
CDX title at the Hangtown show in
Placerville. It was a long awaited win in
second place with a score of 184.
She did not qualify on the first day
when she jumped her broad jump head
on into a dog running towards her in
the adjacent ring and was distracted.
We are very happy to have received a
passing score with so many variables
that can go wrong in the ring.

The picture to the left was taken on the
stage at the Placerville Fairgrounds.

Bailee is quite the beauty.
As an old German Shepherd Dog owner and a new German Shepherd Dog handler, I've made the leap into the sport I love. If you are
new to the world of AKC obedience or Schutzhund competition Hopefully you can enjoy the escapades we have along the way.
Please join us at any of the listed AKC events. Even better, we hope to see you there competing along beside us.
Competition Updates & Photos of the kids

Tyra will be entered in the AKC
trial in Yuba City in October.
Tyra is back in action after her
puppies. We will be entering her
into a Schutzhund competition in
either Vacaville or back to Redwood
Schutzhund club in September.
Tyra finished her BH at Redwood
Schutzhund in Santa Rosa on
December 9th.
This was by far the best organized
trial I've had the pleasure of
attending. The weather was
terrible, but everyone had a great
time.

The courage test:
The dog must be willing to
fight when threatened, even
when the option to escape is
present.
Guarding:
Bailee cannot bite the bad guy unless he
moves to attack or flee.
